We are partnering with the National Head Start Association (NHSA) to improve the use of assessments within Head Start. Head Start Program and Performance Standards stipulate that Head Start grantees must use a variety of assessments, such as developmental screening tools and formative assessments to support their work with children. However, Head Start grantees are able to choose which assessment to use based on their needs. To improve understanding, choice, and use of assessments, we have developed and presented a 4-part webinar series and have presented a day long learning session at NHSA’s National Conference. We continue to scale our work through trainings, webinars, and educational resources. ICS is also a member of NHSA’s data design initiative, whose goal is to improve the capacity of using data and evidence to advance the well-being of Head Start Families.
